Surgeons Use ‘Breast Lift’ to Avoid Implants

Friday March 27, 2009

Many women want to have breast augmentation surgery, because with age and multiple childbirths, their breasts tend to drop. This may be uncomfortable, and also may make the patient feel self-conscious about her lost femininity. However, many of these women are not keen on the idea of breast implants. Though they have gotten better over time, some implants can burst inside the body. If a patient is older, this may cause complications.

For this reason, surgeons have created a new way to give older patients the look that they want for their breasts, without the need for saline or silicone implants. They do this with a breast lift. Similar to a body lift, facelift, or any other kind of lift, the surgeon makes a small, hidden incision. Through this cut, he or she removes any excess skin or fat and literally lifts the breasts into a more attractive position. The extra tissue can even be rotated, in a procedure, known as a spiral flap, to create a sort of natural breast augmentation.

For more information about this procedure or to learn if it is right for you, talk to a licensed plastic surgeon in your area today!
