Breast Implants Linked to Higher Rate of Suicide

Women who are considering plastic surgery should understand that the decision is an important one that will likely change her self-image. Surgeons work with their patients to ensure that they understand this fact, but some women continue to suffer from low self-esteem, even after the surgery.

Because women who have a negative self-image are often attracted to breast enhancement (though that is not to say that if you are considering the idea or have implants, you have a negative self-image), many remain unhappy after the procedure. Unfortunately, scientists have found a link between breast implants and the rate of suicide.

For this reason, surgeons stress that it is important to self-evaluate before getting the procedure. Who am I doing this for? Why am I doing this? Do I think that people will like me more if I do this?

These are all questions that you should ask yourself. For more information and to talk more about the surgery and its psychological impact, contact your cosmetic surgeon today.
