Many women are debating right now between silicone and saline. For breast implants, both materials have been approved and used with great success. Each has its own list of pros and cons. Saline is a material that, if the implants were to burst, would absorb directly into the body and come out naturally. Silicone, however, has a more natural look and feel.

Women who are stuck trying to make this decision, may want to stop debating and wait for the newest material, which surgeons have nicknamed the “gummy bear implant.” Like its name implies, the material is much like a gummy bear: squishy, but still a solid. The implant would be unable to burst, and would have a very real look and feel. Some surgeons feel that this new material will be available in the next few years.
