Are you unhappy with your present bust size, wishing that you were the next cup size up? Then the thought of getting breast augmentation has probably crossed your mind. You need to find out if this procedure is one with which you will be happy.

There are two different types of breast implants: silicone implants and saline implants. The implant procedure usually involves an incision, and depending on preparation and skill, the breast implant recovery time will vary among patients.

Silicone Implants

There are several implant choices which you can get. The silicone gel variety are more lifelike, giving the breast a firm but natural feeling. However, if they end up leaking, you will have to see a doctor to get the implant shell removed and replaced. This is because the human body cannot assimilate the silicone gel.

Saline Implants

Saline implants can be had which are more body-friendly should they leak. Your system can take in the saline solution and process it. Of course, if a saline implant leaks, you will want to get it replaced. These implants are less natural in feel and appearance, but they are still quite popular.

Implant Procedure

The breast augmentation procedure takes place while you are unconscious through general anesthesia. There are several types of incision which can be used, depending on the way your surgeon works and the amount of change you desire. No matter which type of incision is made, a good surgeon will work to make sure that the scarring is as minimal as possible.

Breast Implant Recovery

After the surgery, you will need to be very careful not to damage the area where the breast tissues are healing. The incision sites will have to be cleaned according to your doctor’s directions, and you should not put any kind of force on your chest. While pain can be expected, there are medications that your surgeon can prescribe so you can feel comfortable.

Many women who seek breast implants do so because they feel self-conscious about having a bust size that they consider too small. In other cases, a woman may have breasts that are noticeably different in size. Of course, women who have had mastectomies can have reconstructive surgery to restore their figure.

So is breast augmentation a good choice for you? If you have self-esteem issues concerning the size or shape of your breasts, then it may be worthwhile. However, do not get this surgery on a whim. Think over your options and consult with a Plastic Surgeon in your area to discuss your particular situation.
